Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition Paint, L-48, Matching numbers, 350 c.i, 625cfm Demon Carb, Weiand Stealth intake, 268 Custom Ground Cam, 10:1 heads, Jet Hot Hooker Headers, 3:73 rear end.

I'm ordering a new hood for my ' 78. My check and the car won't be ready for paint until May. I need to primer the hood and get it on the car.

What kind of primer can I use that works well with fiberglass?

The car will be painted silver with of pearl in it. What type of paint do you recomend?

Andy, if you know who you're going to have paint the car, I would ask them what brand of paints they use, so the primer you use for the hood will be compatable.
Almost any quality brand of paint products will work on fiberglass, but most painters have their preferences. It's best to ask the one that will be painting it what they use, and then compare results from others here.
My '74 was painted with PPG products.

Joel is right, most of the name brands are good products and we all have our preferences. I get good results with Sikens, but allow me to make a suggestion, Since it's going to be a while before you paint the car, just put on there what you're comfortable with, but be sure to use a 2 part primer regardless. Your painter will reprime the car when he does the job anyway. Having said that, don't pound the primer on it, just enough to cover. The more you put on it, the more that will have to come off when the final job is done.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

You may want to consider a light coat of primer, and then a coat of sealer.  This may help adhesion and at the same time protect both the hood, and the paint after it's applied.  Sometimes materials will creep back and forth through primer allowing some problems.  Sealer will stop that.

But you want to talk to the painter and match the brands of products.   Mismatching even good products can cause problems.
