hi guys.

I need some help.  i need to repair some of the "internals" of a passenger side power window on a friend's '75 vette.

I...well...kind of broke it   i don't think the glass is broken but i know some of the plastic roller guides broke off.  my problem is that even with the door panel off, i still can't really see what's going on behind the steel door frame to see what else may be broken.  does anyone know of any good tech articles (with pictures) that cover power window repair/replacement?

thanks.

Idon't know of any step by step service instructions, but there is an adjustment procedure in the AIM manual. I would suggest removing all the components for a good cleaning and inspection, then order any replacement parts from one of our supporting vendors. Most should have an exploded view of all the parts. When you re-assemble, brush some white lithium grease on the moving parts and follow the adjustment procedure in the AIM. Be careful of the pre-load on the spring, that can really hurt.

There is a pretty good article at corvettefaq.com. It discusses how to replace the power window mechanism.

Once you remove the door panel, outer weatherstrip, and power window motor access cover you will have a pretty good view inside the door. Hopefully you can see what is causing the jam up and free it up so you can remove the window. If you get it unjammmed, you will be able to either jog the window with the switch to where you can remove the window by following the instructions in the service manual.

If you do not have a service manual I can make copies and send them in PDF format for your use. I will not be able to do so until Monday

It is really not that bad once the jam is resolved.

Bill

Assembly Instruction Manual

Shows how every part is factory installed on your car. They are year specific, so be sure to get the one for your vehicle. Between that and the factory service manual you should be in pretty good shape
