Power Antenna

Yes, I could use the help. My plan is to get a test light and see if I am getting power to the motor. If not I plan to pull the radio ( not the original ) and see if the power from the antenna is hooked up, and go from there.

Just read about your problem with the antenna. Kinda old, and slow.hehe My antenna motor was running, but the rod wasn't going up and down. The nylon cable inside was broken, so I bought a repair kit from one of the parts suppliers, and changed it. Works great now. I think it cost something like $13, or somewhere in that range. Good luck...

The nylon cable gets brittle with age. It would break at the very slightest bend.

Dumb question time (I also posted a similar question to the Pace Car Forum). The previous owner said someone bent the power antenna years ago and he never bothered to fix it. Instead, he said he just disconnected it from the power source. Two questions...First, are the antenna motors pretty reliable? I ask because I'm trying not to have to replace the whole antenna assembly, motor and all. Second, where is the power source? I have a manual for '68 - '82 Corvettes, but am not very good at reading electrical schematics. Hey, I'm a Canuck - what d'ya want? Thanks for any insights you can provide! Franc
