Hey All,
My 76 passeneger power window "falls" when I open it. Falls is a stong word, but really opens fast almost like the gears are slipping or something. Is it the window regulator or the motor. I know there is a gear rebuild kit for the motor but what do you guys all think?
Thanks!!!

If the window will go up and down, the regulator is ok.
Does it skip/jump as it comes down, or does it come down smoothly?
How does it work going up?
Any unusual noises?

Could be the spring. That usually makes it harder to wind UP when it's broken, but it would go down much easier. Maybe someone changed the window motor, and it just runs faster? Ida no...
If the window goes up and down smoothly, at about the same speed, I'd say there may not be a problem. Mine go down pretty fast on the '74...it's getting them back up with the door closed that's a pain. The weatherstripping makes it a little tough...
