The light on my dashboard is on, indicating that the parking brake is on even when it is fully released.
I suspect that the switch is stuck.
What do I have to do to get at this switch to check it out?

I believe the switch is inside the center tunnel by the parking brake handle. It shouldn't be difficult to get to and adjust or replace if needed.

That warning light is ALSO the warning light for a hydraulic system malfunction. Have you bled the brakes recently or noticed a fluid leak anywhere? The reset procedure is to firmly (very firmly) press the pedal. If all systems are operating correctly it should go out.

I haven't done anything to the brakes recently, but I did notice the other day that the brake pedal was low and seemed soft. I'll check the brake fluid level. Then I'll see if I can push the brake pedal to the floor.
It really seems it is the switch because it stayed on when I released the hand brake lever.

And keep in mind, this light also works on a ground circuit. Power is supplied to the light from the igniton, and the pressure differential valve in the hydraulic system can ground it, if you have a fluid level sensor, that can ground it, or the parking brake switch can ground it. So can a pinched wire. It's going to be one of the above.
You can disconnect the wire from the switches/sensors one at a time and see when the light goes out. Then you know what to fix.
