I am looking for opinions on paint for my 72 convertible. We are starting the body repair on Monday morning so I dont have to make a decision right this week. I know I am going to hear the do what you want to do its yours, but, when I was at Carlisle I saw a 72 coupe that was painted Kandi Tangerine. I really really liked that color. The original color is supposed to be Ontario Orange. I bought the car to keep, however if I decide somewhere down the line to sell what is my true cost of not going with the original color. I dont plan to have it judged at any time. I am replacing a total interior with everything new down to most screws and replacing all chrome on the exterior. The Kandi Tangerine is more of a bright orange with a sparkling metalic. I know I should keep it original color but the Tangerine is a much nicer color. Should I worry about resale or paint what I think is nice. What a question! Looking forward to your thoughts. And please give me your true opinions.
Thanks
Rodney

Rodney, really depends on what you want and how original the car is. If it's far from being a nuts and bolts correct original, make it what you want.

I went with a complete color change myself....Thumbs Up

If it was me I would go with the Tangerine! It'll be great either way, enjoy.

I think you'll enjoy it more if you go with the Tangerine. Unless it's all numbers matching and all that then go with what you like. I will repaint mine hopefully this winter. It's supposed to be targa blue but I'll probably go with a different blue. I'm leaning toward the electron blue that they used for a few years.

Rod if you don't plan to sell it for a while do what you really want, put the color on that makes it crank heads. When I do the Red one I want a red that pops, I choose Viper Red.

Back in the 2009 C3VR calendar Member Howard Van Bruggen Screen name "hvb79" from Renton, Wa. had an Orange 1979 for the month of October I remember him writting that his brother and Dad helped him redo the car.

He painted it Lamborghini Orange and its is awesum. I also saw a Pearl Orange 1980 at Vettes at the beach this year and absolutely hated it, though it looked like puke.
I still owe you that scan of my blaster ans as soon as I find that "safe" place i put the darn book I'll send itConfused
Bottom Line it's your Vette and all your hard work.....make it's yours!..............unlike Barry (jaws79) who has to keep his the stock colorBig smile

SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor

Color is a personal choice that won't hurt the car (IMHO).  Done right it will catch the eye of the next owner.

I agree that unless it is a very correct high-dollar car, color won't be a factor in resale.  For everyone who is offended, there will be at least one more who loves it.  I recently saw one that was House of Color Tangelo Pearl.  It was spectacular!
