My Trim Tag is painted over by at least a couple of coats of paint.  It's red paint so I can't even read the characters on the tag.  Does anyone have any idea how to remove the paint from just the tag without damaging the tag itself or the surrounding paint?

Mask off around the tag carefully. Use a paint thinner, or better, paint stripper gel. A little at a time. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe off. Remove the masking and remask. This should get the paint off of the tag, at least enough to read it.The reason to remove the masking after each wipe-off and then remask is to make sure the stripper doesn't soak into the tape, and get onto the body paint. Use the stripper sparingly....it might take a little longer, but it will be safer in the long run.
