Want to paint a 78 vette with a 88 thru 90 cadillac factory color (called cherry-black)not black chery.
Does anyone know where we could find the exact year, see a paint chip, or get a paint code?

Take a quick ride to your local automotive paint store. They have the color chip books for all years/makes/models and should be able to let you take a look at them (at their shop) to find the color you want. Happy hunting...

Your local auto body supply shops should have the answer. A DuPont or PPG jobber will have thousands of pages of chips. These chip books are arranged by manufacturer and year. When I worked for DuPont, the chips also specified the model(s) where used.
Also, you may want to check out the GM dealer body shops in your area. But, I'd start with the jobbers first.

Try looking at some body shops that have been around a long time. Many of them have saved the old books.
