Well I'm getting a little closer to doing the "extreme interior makeover" my '82 desperately needs.  One idea I had, since the interior is a pretty blah factory "slate gray", was to change my seat covers to either '81 silver or '78 Pace Car silver.  It'd be a subtle mix and match since my other interior parts (dash, original interior panels, steering wheel, etc.) are still slate gray.  It's hard for me to imagine how it would look when finished though -- a nice complement or totally out of place.  Maybe some owners of those nice silver interiors can chime in with their opinions on this.

I think you should make it your own. The silver will surely look great with the exterior color. It will be a bit more flashy than your current slate gray but that's not a bad thing. Please post some pics when you are done.

I saw a 78SA with oyster interior and WHITE seats. My first thought was the guy screwed up with his color selection. To me, something else would need to be color matched to the seats, like door panels.   Mike

That's exactly what I want to avoid.  I still need all the "big ticket" items new, like carpet and door panels, so I could order them all in silver.  But the steering wheel is new and gray, and the dash and all the original interior panels (like the dash, e-brake cover, windshield pillars, quarter trim, etc.) are just going to be cleaned and reinstalled.  I'm leaning heavily toward originality at this point... this seemed like a neat idea until I started thinking out loud on here LOL

maybe you can use your silver seats and buy some leather dye that matches your interior. dye just the part where you rest your head and leave the rest silver.
