Vette(s): 1979 L48 Resto-Mod. ZZ383 w/ TKO-500 manual transmission. Centerforce clutch. Tail light conversion. A/C. BeCool radiator. Red exterior with custom black and white leather interior by Mid America Motorworks.

I need to attach a front emblem to my Vette.  The one that I have has two studs protruding from the back...however there are no holes on the front of the car.   Did the 79 vette origionally have two holes for the nost emblem to mount to...or should I just take an angle grinder to the back of the emblem and then attach with emblem adhesive?

All Corvette nose emblems have two studs.  Many aftermarket front clips do not have the holes drilled.  The AIM might have dimensions, or else just look at a picture for position, then use the emblem to mark the holes.

My rear "CORVETTE" letter holes were filled over - Using a dental pic, magnifing glasses and increasing sizes of drill bits - I was able to mount the letters . I twirled the bit between my finger tips - nrather tha risk using a drill. Tokk about 4 Hrs - but well worth it . Look on the back side of the nose for possible fill marks

Take a piece of heavy paper to make a template of your emblem. Make the holes in the template. Tape it down to mark the location to drill your holes. Good luck to you.

The holes must have been painted over or something.  The Emblem had the two studs coming out the backside.

My nose emblem was attached with 2 sided tape as were the fender emblems - held very well. Struggled to get them off. I think the fenders came that way from the factory. Don't know about the nose though....

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
I think the nose emblem on my '79 was held in place by two metal fasteners. They performed the job of a nut but were actually pressed & folded pieces of sheet metal similar to acorn nuts, but flatter. This sound familiar?
I used 3M two sided automotive grade tape on the side emblems.

If memory serves me correctly........(?)

I think I'm just gonna grind the metal prongs off and use the emblem tape that holds the sides on. The emblem I have is faded and will need to be replaced soon anyway.  When I order a new one I will probably try and do it per factory specs Tongue  Thanks guys.

I would strongly agree with you, unless some one is Gumby and can fit under the nose of your car who will know.
Plus if the finish is nice I'd hate to have something stupid like a senior moment and the drill getting away or dropping on the car. Or if it's off by a pinch after drilling the hole's and it's crooked.Wits%20End Stick it on and play it safe. Evil%20Smile
