After doing more work on my 82 Corvette I have discovered that the 8 volt reading at the fuel pump leads is for the pump gauge. I have zero volts at the fuel pump lead but the fuel pump fuse is good. Is there a relay or something else in the fuel pump circuit that would give a zero voltage reading to the fuel pump while the fuel pump fuse is good?????? Thanks John

I agree with 82dukman in his reply to your first post. The first thing to do is check the fuel pump relay and its circuitry. It is located in with the ECM in the battery compartment. If the relay itself tests good, you'll have to check to see if it is being energized by the ECM. If it is not, you'll have to troubleshoot that problem. If it is, you most likely have a wiring problem between the relay and the pump leads.

It sounds as though the fuel pump relay has failed. I would also check the computer for any stored codes. The relay is controlled by the computer.

where is the fuel pump relay  located on 1982 corvette. I have looked behind the passenger seat. I do not see any wires going below viper motor on the driver side. These are the two places I read in various forums, I do not seem to find it anywhere

Driver side rear compartment, in the same area as the battery, and the ECM(Electronic Control Module) for the engine.

Another possibility is your oil pressure sensor. The ECM will shut off the fuel pump if it senses a catastrophic drop in oil pressure.
