Hey guys, last night I made it a little further down the rabbit hole to see why my new 79 Corvette isn't starting. the car is getting fuel that's for sure, thought it might be the dizzy or ignition module although after some prodding around with a multimeter I've found out that there are no signals to the dizzy when I crank the car. The car tries to turn over like normal although no spark. Its weird because the car was running fine and then it just shut off and would start again. Anybody know what might be the cause on this mystery car?

What we know:

  • No Power at the spark plugs
  • No Power at the leads
  • No Power at the distributor
  • No Power at the wires going into the distributor

Uh...."no power at the distributor"?? You saying you have no voltage on the pink wire going to the distributor cap/coil connector("Batt")? You should have battery voltage there anytime with the key On. If not you may have a problem with the ignitions switch, or possibly the pass-thru connector/fusebox.

You must first verify you have battery voltage on the pink wire, key on. No juice there and you have no ignition. If you DO have batt voltage there, try disconnecting the white "Tach" wire on the dist cap/coil. You also need to verify you still have battery voltage while cranking.
