new turn signal switch install

I am waiting to recieve a new turn signal switch for my 1972 BB convert. Old switch is out and I fed a piece of wire through the column as I removed the old switch.
Any one out there have advice to offer ref. the install of the new switch? i.e. feeding the connector through the column top to bottom. Any advice is greatly appreciated. By the way its a tilt tele column.

Just keep the column stright, not tilted, and keep the plug connector flat to the column. It will feed right through.
