I need to replace the weatherstripping on my '78. While the car is in great shape there are gaps in the rubber on the T-Top panels, etc. Having the tops drip may be more or less normal for these cars, I would like to stop it.

Does anyone know what supplier has the best weatherstrip kits? Who to avoid? For all I know maybe everyone buys them from one manufacturer or there is a real choice to make here regarding quality and reputation.

While I won't say the dollars don't matter, I think it's more important I make the right choice and only do this once, so I want to do it right.

Thanks to all in advance. |thumb|

I'd go to Wilcox. I haven't done my yet, but I've talked to them about it. They seem to know more (or at least care more) about you getting the correct ones for your car. And their prices are better on most other things I've bought from them.

I got great service and very good quality products from Corvette Rubber. Chances are pretty good no matter where you buy it they probably made it. http://www.corvette-rubber.com/

Anybody who HAS done this have any advise?

I bought a kit off of ebay, but it came with no instructions or hardware, just the weatherstrips.

Will I need anything other than some time and patiece to install these?

I am doing the whole car BTW, not just the tops.

Thanks!

I just got in a set off of ebay ($203) from Wilcox. I'm just gonna have the paint shop install it (for a small fee) while the car is in for paint work.

I got T-Top weather stripping from Wilcox. It was $94 for both tops, everything was great. Here is the site.

Took a lot of elbow grease |hammer| to remove old stuff, and I had to do some work on the top to remove rust & messed up hardware |cussing|I found under the strips. Use a good adhesive/sealant and take your time. |smile|

3M makes a weathertrip adhesive remover that works really well. It won't hurt your paint. I even use it to remove the weatherstrip from cars I'm getting ready to strip.
