1969 was the only year this color was used - paint #980 - Riverside Gold. I need some for touch up. Does anyone know if I can buy it? Does anyone have the formula so I can have it custom made? How about in a spray can?

Good to see someone else with Riverside Gold. I found a bottle of touch up from one of the supply houses...think it was Corvette America, but it didn't quite match.

You're better off taking your car to an automotive paint supplier...they can computer match it and blend you a can of liquid or aerosol. Most should have the exact formula to blend it, but if your car has any amount of fade, it won't be as exact a match as them computer matching it.

Gold and silver, are really tough to match,I'm sure you could get somebody in an autobody supply house to get the formula through their archives,it was a Dupont lacquer color, matching it to yours might be tough, because yours is probably faded someConfused

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I agree with Gunslinger. What he suggested about the automotive paint supplier is the only way to go if your paint is faded. They actually put the camera (or whatever they call it) on your car and it gives them the formula for mixing the paint to match. I've done that twice over the years and it was a perfect match.

Take your Gas Cap off and give it to the paint store to match up the paint.  They matched it up PERFECT for me. WinkBig%20smile

WOW - four replies here - and I posted the same question on the NCRS TDB and haven't seen one reply!

I was skeptical that I would get any replies at all to this question - so I have another - now that I know I'm not the only one going through this.

Everyone said take it to a paint store - I don't think you're talking about the local Sherwin Williams paint store, so how do you find a good paint shop for lacquer??? Or, did you go to a body shop?

Thanks again,
Jim

Find out where local paint shops buy their paint from...or go to a cruise-in and ask those guys a good local supplier. A good paint supplier will have professional grade products as well as paint and a computer that can match a paint sample. They should also have books with paint chips that go back many decades with modern formulas for today's paints.

Look in the Yellow Pages under paint and check out the adds in there.  Some will say if they carry auto paint or call an Auto Store and ask them the name of some paint shops that carry auto paint.

Nice toe tapping there Mick!

Thanks to everyone for all the advice - now I'm off to find the paint store.
