If you are a do-it-yourself type of guy, check out http:www.crutchfield.com
Good prices and they include wiring harnesses for your specific application. Alpine is good, but do not over look Blaupunkt and Kenwood. All three make very good car audio products. Check out Infinity if you are needing speakers.
Good luck, Rick |wavey|

Our problem is not just which radio to buy. Colleen is looking at the Kenwoods in Eckler's that has Corvette on them. Is that what the originals had? Right noww there is no radio in Ian and the radio opening is cutout to fit an aftermarket radio which was stolen before we bought him, plus the rear speakers. To put an original or one of the Kenwoods in we have to get a new center intrument cluster panel so we have the holes for the knobs. Or we could just go for a Kenwood that doesn't have the knobs. She wants an original look. Plus for the support brackets on the insides, I saw them in the AIM, can any brackets be used or only Chevrolet's? Right now we havea big ugly hole to fill with nice sounds. |cheers|

Well, she went for a Pioneer DEH1500, 50w tuner cdplayer with a 3 band eqaulizer, new front and rear speakers to match it from a local audio shop. they did a good job putting the rear speakers in the rear to look stock. |cheers|

The only radios that I know of that look original are originals. There is only one bracket on the inside, basically a strap that bolts to the passenger side of the radio and then to a spot on top of the hump. "Corvette" was not printed on any of the originals, only "Delco" in small script.

You might be interested in this. Although it is not original it has a clean look.

Hello everybody !
I have the JVC radio with new rear speakers installation
i took my dremel tool to cut the space for the radio.
If you put rear speakers with a larger magnet you will have to trim to fit them.

Scot, this link also worked for me. Seems like to me there is something out of whack on your PC.

Being a 21 year old who Loves to crank the volume and listen to heavy metal, I can vouch for kenwood and alpine stereos. I have built 8 serious sound systems for freinds and myself. Both have never disappointed me. The Blaupunkt was good in sound quality but was very sensitive and had a fragile face plates. I put one in my pesonal car and was great for a month but then was getting very intolerant of dirty, scrached cd's. then my flip down face plate just broke and wouldnt close. kenwood and alpine are both good sounding and more tolerant of not so perfect cd's.
