Need advice to replace headlamp actuator

My passenger side headlamp actuator blew up the other night. I ordered and received a new one as well as a complete vacuum hose replacement kit. Does anyone have any tips or a website to help with replacing the actuator. Is it easier with the hood removed?

Those are fairly accessible from both the top and bottom side.  You might find it easiest with the hood closed and working from underneath. Depending on how you bought the unit, once you have it off you will need to transfer over the Adjustable rod.  I would just count the threads on the rod and match it on new.  You will also have to remove your springs and it might be a pain to get the clevis pin out of the end of the rod the actutator is attached working from the bottom side, but anything is easier then removing the entire headlight assembly.

I happened to have my hood off when I did mine and it was a breeze.I did do one with the hood on and had to be extemely careful not scratch the hood.I put cloth on the hood to protect it.I had a friend who did one by removing the grill and working from underneath and through the grill opening he accomplished the task.
