I was the winning bidder for 1999 formula rear seatbelts on Ebay. $0.99 plus shipping for a total of $7.69. They did not come with the recepticles so I went to the local scrap yard and bought some from a TransAm for $25. Now they are in and I don't have to play around with the old rusty ones.
Here is how they look

I was just considering swapping in seatbelts from another model, as my driverside belt floor retractor is worn out(can't pull belt out). Was the swap pretty much a straight bolt in? How did you choose the model you were going to get donor belts from?

Past members have done this change. What you are looking for is any Camaro/Firebird rear seat belts from 1993-2002. Everything will fit. The problem with the current seatbelts is the retractor under the seat. The C/F seatbelts don't have one there. The rear retractor has the more travel. The C/F seatbelt receiver can be used by taking the current receiver out of the vinyl cover and replacing it with the C/F one. That will help keep it from falling under the seat. The buckle can be strung thruogh the seat slots by removing the buckle. If you have the rear shoulder straps now you will have to remove the retractor cover. The C/F retractor won't fit under it. Keep checking E-bay.

Brian, where are the belts from? I assume when you say "formula" you mean a Firebird, is that the case. I was contemplating trying to convert my "72's to a better set up than the one in the car now, though I would like tobe able to feed it through the seat pass through, but I guess that will cause problems as the stock shoulder portion is narrower than the belt portion. They will fit but you will have to remove the buckles to do it. I used 2 adjustable wrenches to spring the buckle enough to remove the metal piece that holds the belt in the buckle. Just pop the plastic cover off and put the wrenches on the out side tabs. I put tape on them so I wouldn't scratch the crome.
