Ya won't find the 1980 T-Top carrier at ANY of the aftermarket stores, ecklers, Mid-America, Bairs, etc.

I've been lookin' for one for mine for goin' on 2 yrs now.  I saw only one on ebay for over $400.

They are not chrome, they are injection molded vinyl/plastic with straps.  They are a 3 peice setup.

I wish I had had the $$$ at that time.  I would gladly pay that now.  If you find 2 of them I'll buy oneLOL.

Good Luck!

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
Couldn't find 2 but there is 1 on ebay right now. NOS, starting bid $299 but NO bidders yet. Item# 18008331359.

Dennis, since you're willing to pay $400, if you get it cheaper do I get a finders fee? LOL

Hey rearin2go, can you check that number again?

It looks like an 800 number and didn't compute on ebay.  There is one for a 68 - 78, but not for an 80 that I could find.

I checked and that is the correct item # but I couldn't get it to come up by "searching" that number either. I did get it again by going to ebay, typing in "1980 corvette luggage rack" in ebay search window.

Jim, I just installed a luggage rack on my 76 Vette yesterday and it didn't come with a template either. The information that came with it gave me a dimension for 4.14" from the bottom of the deck (where the rear bumper seam is) up to the lower mounting holes on the rack. It also made note to center the rack so the gas cap will open making sure the measurement from each side of the rack to the inside of the body fins to the rear window match. I put a 3" section of painter's tape across the bottom of the rear deck and then held the rack on the deck to locate the area for the sides of the rack. I then placed the tape on the deck along the sides and top where the rack was and then marked the hole locations on the tape with a felt tip pen through the holes on the rack. I drilled a small pilot hole in each location, placed the rack down and checked again to be sure. Then I drilled the holes carefully not to hit the gas tank. All worked our great! and it looks perfect!
Good luck!Thumbs%20Up

Carl,

It's possible that there could be a difference in the placement of the rack on a coupe. I can tell you from experience that some the the aftermarket luggage racks will not line up with the original holes.
