Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
This might sound like small stuff but real important. I finally just bought my first vette after years of wanting.
Here is my question--- I have a daughter who is disabled, doesn't walk or talk, we have a peddle chair that she can use that folds up like a childs stroller, little larger and heavier. I know that the luggage rack won't pack a lot of wieght but does anyone have any idea of the approximate limit. Any suggest would be great she likes to ride with the top down but now I am limited to keeping her in the car. thanks from a new member

I believe the factory recommended limit is 50 pounds as stated in John Pfanstiehl's 'Corvette Weekend Projects'.

Vette(s): ......
You don't want to put very much on there ,they were only designed to carry the weight of the T-Tops,40-50 pounds, there is no support under that deck !How about some specially modified bike rack to the rear frame? its a thought Ron 78 |headscratch| |idea| |wavey| |saluteflag| |withstupid|

Bungee cords work great miracles with the luggage rack.

I've never put my tops on the rack BUT -- I've strapped 2 sets of golf clubs on there once (only had a 3 mile trip though).

Whatever you can do to enjoy the vette with your daughter is a good idea. Use the rack even if it might lead to a stress fracture -- that can be fixed -- your time with her is too important! |hammer|

I think Joe (fun 71) has the right idea!

I had racks on my 69 and 75 ragtops. Had 3 kids and 2 dogs. Only took the kids on weekends with all the BS that you need with kids. They were 6m to 5y and you know what you have to take with you. It all went on top of the racks with no problems. Each vette was kept for 6 years and the first three years, that was my only car.
Don't worry bout the car, it's the kid you need to be with. God bless. |bouncy|

I believe that loading up the rack can lead to cracking in the glass at the rearmost edge of the deck. Just remember, that rack is not reinforced in anywar.

Have a great time w/ Lacey. GM says that the luggage rack should be loaded with no more than 35lbs. That is pretty heavy if you think about it.

Have fun! |thumb|
