Hey, Chris, just out of curiousity, what type of system do ya'll have for identifying bulbs and such down yonder? Do they rate them by "Kiwi Power", instead of candle power?

You know, I've never really thought about how other countries number/I.D. parts. That's interesting. I should get out more.
Well seeing as you ask, we are now leading the world
with our early implementation of the new international
S.E.E. standard (Solar Energy Equivalent) for lighting
ratings. Its a great system, with easy to understand
and remember illumination identifiers. Some examples
of the main ones in ascending order are...

S.E.E. nothing
S.E.E. bugger all
S.E.E. a little
S.E.E. something
S.E.E. sort of
S.E.E. ok
S.E.E. well
S.E.E. more
S.E.E. most things
S.E.E. everything

Then there are mission specific variants such as...

S.E.E. shore (for salt atmosphere applications)
S.E.E. breeze (strengthened for wind gusts)
S.E.E. through (these are x-ray lamps)
S.E.E. dee (special low light filtered lamps for the
morning after. Not to be confused with CeeDee.)
S.E.E. ling (developed for the chinese)
S.E.E. bee (used in planes when in close proximity to
       thunder storms)

There's even a really new super advanced one now being
used exclusively by Nasa on the space shuttle, the
S.E.E. threepio

So we're way ahead of you guys and your ancient
indiscriminate bulb numbering system !!!

I just did this last year when I had my dash out on my 76. All the bulbs listed above are correct and I got them all at the local Walmart.

According to my owners manual - there are a couple of odd balls that I may still need to look for:

wiper switch / cigarette lighter #1445

a/c heater control #1816

map  / mirror light #563

and for that next trivia game - the radio dial lamp is an #1893 but, the stereo indicator is a #2182.

As has been said, I'm sure many of these can now be replaced with a different bulb. The bulb kit may be a good idea - but you can really get most of them locally.

Now all you need is to find an easy way to get to them.
