I just read an article in Chevy HighPerformance. It is on a product called dynamat www.dynamat.com. It is a "space age" sound deading insulation for car floors and doors ( etc ). Sounds interesting and may be usefull to any of you who are planning to replace your rugs in the future or are just looking for a way to further (sound) insulate your cabin.
I was also surprised to see a partial letter I sent to Chevye HighPerformance published in this months issue.

I just ripped out the entire interior of my 70 Vette. This looks like a good product. I contacted the company to see which application would be the best for me. Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how it goes.

If I cooled down the interior of my 68 L-71, how will I cook my turkey at Thanksgiving? Will look at this stuff if I decide to buy an oven for cooking!

A question like yours was posted in this months issue of Vette mag in the Q&A section on keeping cool in a LT1. Sounds like a good fix and won't disturb the integrity of the engine compartment.

Maybe I was not clear in my original post. This is not a heat insulation, it is for sound deadening. It may help with heat also but they only talk about lowering the sound level in the passenger compartment.

I've used Dynamat extensivly in my last firebird and it is great for sound deadening. The car which used to sound real tinny and lots of rattles, now sounds like a new cadillac inside. Also it seems to help out the stereo's performance, well at least I didn't need to turn it up as loud to power out road noise. "Dynamat Extreme" does have aluminum backing so I guess it will help out in heat suppression.

Save yourself a bunch of $$$ and go to Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Lowes, etc. and get a roll of Reflectex. It is double faced aluminum with insulation in between. $20.00 for a 16 inch roll about 25 feet long.
It works great for sound and heat insulation. Glue it down with 3M Carpet Adhesive.

Hey if you really want a neat product then check out www.koolmat.com. I've seen this product at shows and in my opinion its the way too go. They also make precut kits for our C3's. Its very thin and should lay well with the carpet.
