It seems like every couple of months when I get in my 79 I have a mystery wire hanging down. Here's the latest.... any guesses what it is?

Vette(s): 1976 Stingray matching numbers. Stock 350 rebuilt, comp cam, roller rockers, push rods, 2.02 valves, +.30 flat tops, frontend & suspension rebuilt Dec 08. Interior from firewall 90% July. New exhaust, Collector plates, Paint will have to wait...& wait.
Is that the vacuum hose to the heater box diaphragm?

It is up on the heater box just above the gas pedal, it activates the defrost door I believe. I have attached a picture of mine when I was taking it apart (click here to see). See if that helps you work it out.

See of your defroster works Adam. Changing from vents to defrost on the HVAC controls and not going from vents to defrost would be a good conformation.

Well, Something has to be turned to keep the precious fiberglass in the road. If it works don't knock it.
