Hi All.

Is the interior headlight and seatbelt light (red) Suppose to stay on all the time. The headlight (red) stays on when you turn on the headlights.

Thanks,

Darrell

No, to both questions. The Headlight Warning light is on because the switch is probably broken on one(or both) of the lights. There is a switch on them that is plastic, and it breaks very easily. I have a pic of the set-up somewhere, but not here at work. Perhaps someone else has one, and can post it.

The Seatbelt light could be for a couple of reasons, but we need to know what year model car it is first. It could simply be the belt is not fastened all the way, or it could be a switch, or wiring problem....

Here is a pic of the headlight stuff. You can see the switch in the lower left...

Here is a simplified diagram for the seatbelt warning circuit. The '76 wiring diagram does NOT show a seatbelt warning lamp in the dash...I gotta dig a little deeper to see if I can find a better diagram.

I'm assuming that you are fastening the seatbelt, but the light is still on? If you are not fastening the seatbelt, then I think we've found the solution...LOL

Yes, I fasten both seatbelts and light stays on. Also on the headlight dash light that stays on. Can I buy the switch from Mid America corvette? Is their a specific name for this switch?

Thanks,

Darrell

btw..there are two of these switches...one for each headlight. Make sure that both of the headlights are raising all the way up...sometimes, one of them might not go all the way up, and the light will stay on as a warning. Try pulling up on both of the lights with them on, and see if that makes any difference. If it doesn't, then one(or both) of the switches is the problem. If the light DOES go out  when you pull up on the lights, then linkages may simply need to be lubricated, or you may find a spring that is broken, which is quite common, also.
