What is the most relevant book to get instructions on how to take the frame off of my 1971 Corvette?

I am sure the subject is in the content table of several of the books I can find on line; what is the best one in terms of clarity, details, mistakes not to do, etc.? Does anyone have experience and opinions in this matter?

Chris

I learned how from the book of scraped  knuckles and bent, aching elbows.  That sucked after nearly 30 years of use and abuse. But Ecklers does have good resources on how to do it.

I think you want to take the body off of the frame.  Your other post indicated that you needed a front end.  If the front is off and the body is stripped, then four people can easily lift the body off of the frame.  It is not that heavy.  Then you can easily roll the frame around and do your thing.

I want to take the body off the frame AND rebuild the whole front end. My concern is not so much about the lifting part. Guidance about where to unbolt and what to disconnect would be helpful and save me time.

Thanks all for your help.

Since you plan to put on a complete one piece front end, I would do take the body off in about this order:  front bumper, hood, front fender assembly,  steering assembly, pedal rods and brake master cylinder line, doors, seats, dash, rear bumper, gas tank, and body mount bolts (I think there are four on each side: one behind the front tire, one behind the kick panel, one in front of the rear tire and the rear one).  Keep track of the number of shims you remove from each mounting point.  Then get four strong men or women and lift off the body.  Simple version.  There will be  wires and vacuum lines to take loose but the above will work.  There are about as many ways to take the body off as there are C3VR members but I have done it like this and it worked for me.   Good luck.
