Thank you Joel for the fine comments. I will see Connie come March when I go up to Gator Nationals Drags.I usually go every other year and this is my turn with all my sons and grandsons, and maybe VETTERBOB will go as well.

Again Thanks and may you and all have continual success with this great forum.  Sal C

Vette(s): 1976 Silver/Firethorn. L48, 4spd. Original 2 bolt, vortec heads, 9.4:1 CR, Speed Pro Cam: 224/224@0.050, 112 LSA, Eagle Steel Crank.
I've had my Vette towed twice in 12 1/2 years.  One of those two times it was (very embarrassingly) just out of gas.  (But I thought it was ignition)  The other time, however, it was the module.  And then there was a third time when I got it home but I thought it was going to need a tow.  That time it was the coil.  I'm doing what Joel suggests: any long trip will involve carrying a module, coil, and rotor with me and the tools to replace.

Not to beat this to death but I too have been left high and dry from a failing GM HEI. Failed coil yes, failed module yes. Mine dumped its guts at 42,000 miles. So I started carrying the spares but really, if you have replaced both of those items your clear to run without issue for quite awhile. Like most, the "gettin skooled" part left me a little chapped and I didn't trust this distro for many a trip. Then I settled down....Thought: they should put an hour meter on these things like a ski boat.
