When we had the column apart, the inner steering shaft (for want of the REAL term) came out and a little ball and a wedge came out.

We put them back in and went about our business.

Now, we can't get the star screw all the way down to hold the hub down.

This morning I jumped to a post someone had made in 2008 about getting that installed right.  I can't find the post and I'm going nuts.  So close and yet so far.

Anybody help again???

Thanks,
Jim

I found the old post.  And we finished the column reinstall.  We fixed the turn signal parts:  the spring had become too weak so we put in a new spring.

Lots of trial and error reassembling the column but its done now and the horn honks load.  This completes the "have to" problems:

brakes
wipers
master cylinder
horn
starter
right side mirror.

Seems like more but I can't remember right now.  Now to relax.

Thanks All,
Jim
