This being my first vette (Since August 19),it is quite a learning process. During my first week of ownership, I should have worn a helmut getting in the car with the T-Tops in place. |ohwell|

As I said above, my column has a ring and no lever. Thanks for confirming that that is wat it's supposed to have. This is a great sight...so much info!! Thanks guys.

Jon errr C3RVETTE. The 3.55 is standard for the 4 speed in 1976. Wheras the auto came with a 3.36. I think Calif. cars came with the 3.08. According to www.corvetteactioncenter.com your 77 with the auto trans should also have the 3.55. The 77 4 speed (M21)had the 3.70.

Well,hopefully the 3.55,not the 3.08.Although the gas mileage would be better,but who gets a Vette for the gas mileage? |laugh|

Vette(s): It's a 1976 L-48 auto Red with Firethorn and white delux interior, 68,000 miles. I have tried to restore it to NCRS specs and have recieved 1 Bronze 3 Silver, 1 Gold Spinner and Top Gun, Best C3 Vette at Chicago's Chevy/Vette Fest.

To tell you the truth its only been waxed maybe 3 times in the 6 years Ive owned it. I use Meguires wax on it, the Gold Class I think it is. Im not sure since I havent seen the bottle in a while. Thank you for the complient! Hearing such kind words makes all 6 years of work worth while! Thanks again.

My 78 is auto with 3.08 rear,it also has the 24 gallon gas tank,it makes you think your getting better gas milage until you stop and fill it up again and hand the man your wallet. |laugh|

I know what you mean. I also have an Olds 442 with the 455 Rocket TH400 and 3.42 anti-spin (Oldsmospeak for posi). She'll pass pretty much everything but a gas station. Gas usage is crazy, but hey, compaired to some places in the world it's cheap! Just got back from India in May. Price for gas there is $4/gal |eek|

But who really bought these cars to get great gas mileage. Canada and the US are filled with wide open spaces - the perfect landscape for driving down the road with the horizon, mountains or ocean in view. Stereo on, wind in your hair, the next town just up ahead...is there any other way to travel?

I've also got a '78 Olds Cutty Supreme(not sure what the rearend gearing is in it,either),with a 350/350.Its alright,but it aint no 455.Talk about smooth compared to the Vette,but a guys got to have both,right.My 1st Vette,and my 1st Olds.Check out www.msnusers.com/cutlasscorvetteworkinprogress for pics.

OH,and gas around here was $2 a gal for regular,till this week!Now its $1.95 or something. |cussing|
