How do you access the nuts that fasten the rear "Corvette" emblem?

Looking at the Assembly Manual shows a box-like steel structure right behind the center of the bumper, which sits about an inch from the bumper.

There is no way I can get my hand in between the rear of the bumper and this steel plate.

Hmmm, good question, mine is a body off restore, so it was easy, I'm a thinking the whole bumper might have to come off, but I'm sure maybe some has a solution for you.

Thanks.  I may just have to glue it on Unhappy.  I can't imagine taking on a full body-off restore -- everything is so hard to get to on these cars!

I believe there are speed nuts on the back of the letters. I think we installed them on the bumper when it was off, I know some had glued them on rather then pull the bumper cover back off. I don't recall if my son was able to reach up there to install them or not. It was his car so I let him handle that job.

Get some 3M double sided emblem tape and cut to fit the emblem. If you look at your "Stingray" emblems on the front fenders you will see that is how they are attached. The studs are basically just for proper alignment. If you insist on using the speed-nuts on the backside of the rear bumper cover, you will have to take the cover off....which is gunna open up a whole new can of werms... Ouch

Thanks, that's what I'll do.  I have some emblem glue that should work.

Don't know aboot using a glue....it might react with the paint, and cause some bad ju-ju. Whatever you do use, be sure to clean the area on the bumper cover very well to make sure there is no wax/polish/detailer, etc., or nothing will stick. Thumbs Up
