Hi guys;I need to put some type of insulation under the hood of my 80 vette;is there any type that fits directly;if not, what else could I use,and where could I get it? Thanks for you help!

80-82's never had any type of insulation from the factory. There are no holes under the hood for the push pin retainers. Why is it that you need insulation under the hood? Just curious.
Maybe someone here may know of a certain brand that will stick under there even with the high heat.

Insulation is under the hood of many cars to keep the hood and paint from getting cooked as well as eliminate "mirage" from rising into the driver's view.
Why some year Corvettes have underhood insulation and some don't is an answer I don't have.

Interesting...GM Parts Direct lists insulation retainers for the 1980, but no mat. Doc Rebuild lists mats up to 1979, nothing for 1980.
My suggestion is drive fast enough at all times to keep the mirage down and help cool the engine compartment.

I've thought about this also, but I've never had a heat problem under the hood of my '80.

if I'm not mistaken, I think the retainers are glued to the underside of the hood.
