Put on a new wheel on today, reassembled correctly but as soon as I put the horn button back on it goes off. Tried moving the contact ring around didn't help. It's like the button makes contact as soon as you put it on. Do i need a new horn contact? How many contact rings should I have? Thanks

The contact rings/"spacers" are used "As Needed"...
I think there are 5-6 of them on my '74...

shouldn't the spring keep those 2 contacts separated until depressed ? It's so easy to forget how that all works and those diagrams all seem to be slightly faded and unclear, but better than nothing by a long shot. Haven't seen a really crisp pic of the tilt/ teles. column.

Got it all figured out works now, the plastic screws were missing. Used zip ties for now and ordered new screws.

Hey MM, I had the same problem, I tried everything but nothing worked. I finally glued a permanent spacer in the center in the of the horn and then I put the button back on. It worked prefectally. I have had no more trouble. Good luck, Gene
