Hey boys and girls.
The paint is flaking off of my hood. The car was quickly painted right before I bought it 10 years ago and its wasnt prepped well.
Anyway, Im going to get some estimates on painting the hood and I was wondering what to expect.
Ive got some paint left (the seller gave me what was left in the gallon and its still good as I moved it to another container but I dont have  the hardener that goes with it)
So, any input of cost of a hood re-paint with customer supplied single stage paint?

Thanks!

I would guess a commercial shop will not "shoot" a customer supplied paint especially 10 years old.  It would be useful to color match.   A small one man operator might be willing to do it. Do you know the brand of paint so they could find the correct hardener?

I noticed in your profile your car is red. It's a good chance that the paint on your car versus what is in the can are no longer the same shade. Reds have a tendency of fading with time due to sun exposure.
I had a shop that did custom work do my paint work. The shop painted my car in '05 and then they painted the big block hood in '07. I think the hood was about a grand. But they had to fit the hood and painted the underside for me too.
I would go check out different shops in your area and go from there. Good luck!

I still have the gallon can. So I can give that to to them.
Thanks!

Yeah, the color has definitely faded. especially since its a single stage paint.
Your price gives me something to go on.
Thanks Sarge

Sarge is right, 10 year old red paint will NOT match what's in the can. Good luck with it, hope it comes out OK.

Thanks Dave. The whole car needs repainted but 4 to 6 grand isn't anywhere in the budget these days.
I'll be happy if its close, and maybe when I eventually get settled down south, I can get the whole thing done.
