Hello everyone, I am a new kid on the block. I have had my 76 just 3 days. I can't get the hood latch to release so I can get under it to start doing the some clean-up work before the real fun begins. I am pulling on the release handle and cable but no luck. I don't know if the cable has broken. It is original equip. so that is possible. YES, I am a novice here. But,I am eagerly wanting to learn. Is there an emergency release somewhere or does anyone have a good suggestion. I had the hood up the day I looked at it to by the car. But, not now.Be the first to like this post

I found the two holes with the plastic plugs in them. I remove the plugs and then inserted the long screw driver. I was not able to get any release on the hood though. I must not be getting it just right. It is getting late here so I am going to go to bed and try again tomorrow. Thanks for the help and the info. I will be back and let yall know what the outcome is. NIght.

You might need to enlist the help of someone pulling up on the hood while you try to manipulate the mechanism.
