The hood on my 69 pops open when I hit a bump or drive across a dip at an angle. Is this an adjustment problem or worn latches? What is the proper way to adjust the hood?

It's prolly an adjustment problem. The plastic sheath seems to shrink with age, effectively shortening the cable. The little arm where the cable ends has several holes in it for fine tuning. Just remove one end, stick it into the next hole (closer to the center of the hood), and you should be good. If it's already at the last hole, you can disconnect the little hanger in the middle of the cable. This will allow some extra slack in the cable, but you may not like to way it droops. Make sure you don't accidentally over-tighten the cable by going the wrong way...the releases won't work, and the hook is a bear to open from under the car!!

OOps! I meant "over-loosen" the cable by going the wrong way!
