You might have someone push down on the front of the hood while you pull the cable.
You might try pushing down on the center/edge(mid-way between the latch and the headlight area) of the hood, while pulling up on the corner that is stuck.
If all else fails, lay a folded towel on the hood above the latch, and have someone pull the cable, while you beat down on the towel, with the flat of your hand, or a fist. Sometimes, the bouncing motion like this will be enough to pop the latch around the spear, and let it pass the lip.
Jacking the front of the car, from the center of the front cross member, might just move the body enough to release the latch, depending on which way it is too far out of adjustment. It might also make it even tighter...

Good luck. Hope ya get it open.

UNJAMMED AND OPEN, THANKS TO ALL FOR THE INPUT. aFTER TRYING ALL OF THOSE AND SOME MORE OF MY OWN, WE DETERMINED THAT I HAD TO LOOSE THE DRIVER SIDE HINGE BOLTS AT THE FRONT OF THE CAR. A LONG SKINNY ARMED FRIEND OF MINE WAS ABLE TO REACH UP THROUGH THE OPEN GRILL AND LOOSEN THE BOLTS. a SMALL JIGLLE TOWARD THE WINDSHEIL AND OPEN SHE CAME. WHAT A PIA. DETERTMINED THAT MY CABLES WERE A BIT WORN TO SO I BOUGHT NEW ONES AND WILL REPLACE BEFORE I ATTEMPT TO ADJUST AGAIN.
