As some of you may have notice this 1972 Stingray has a 1982 Greenwood style frond end that has a homemade insulator under the hood. It is quite unsightly. Anyone know where to direct me to order a 1982 hood insulator? My Vette friend (Redwingnut) mentioned that they are more for NVH than anything elese.
Thanks,
JB

What's "NVH"?
Also, I doubt that '82s have insulation from the factory. I know '81s did not.

NVH = Noise Vibration and Harshness....
I hear you on that. I did not think so, however this hood appears to have some "original" mounting attachments molded in.
I know it is tough without seeing it, however if we here can say that 80/81, and 82 did not have insulators I may simply go without. It appears that the previous owner put this mat up in the vain attempt to solve or help solve his heating issues which are now LONG GONE. Thanks to the Spal Fans, New hoses, new airdam, and a little common sense.

It's true the later cars did not have the blankets...cost/weight issues, and the fact that the new front end design helped with the engine cooling issues made it un-needed.

Some mail-order 'Vette suppliers have hood insulators that will fit, as in not "molded". You might try one of those.

Hmmmm. I have a thought...
How about a piece of flexable mirror with a nice split hose border all around it? It would be heck to keep clean, but sisnce this car is totally Not Original anyway????

Joe, you think too much, just kidding. I am not one to add more work then I have to so I wouldn't want to clean anything under the hood that I know is going to get scratched up.

Those are the factory style retainers, tho.
It's possible a blanket from a late '76-'77 would fit it.
