I'm now making plans to take my project to the next step...fuel injection and supercharging.  I was looking at ProCharger first, but the guys I'm working with think that a roots style blower would be more beneficial, as it would make boost more quickly, and they also think that with ProCharger, fender modification would be necessary.  Ew.

Anyway, now I'm looking at a "Gen 1 Classic" from MangaCharger...designed for small black carbureted and fuel-injected classic Chevy.

There's a link, and you can give it a click for some pictures.

There's a link showing blueprints with height measurements from the top of the block.

I was looking to go with either Edelbrock's Performer RPM Pro-Flo EFI system, or Holley's Commander 950.  Now the deal is, I've currently got the standard small block hood.  I was considering going to the L88, but Ecklers apparently has the big block hood too, and that doesn't look bad at all. So now I'm wondering...how much additional clearance over the small block hood will the L88 hood give me, and then the big block hood as well?  Will I be able to fit the kind of system I'm going for underneath one or the other?  I want to avoid those ugly cowl hoods.  Gimme some suggestions, guys.

Mike

I believe the L-88 hoods were about 4" taller than the stock hoods.
Seems like whatever mfg. you go with could tell you what hoods will work with their system. I doubt the stock BB hood would clear any kind of huffer.

ecklers usually has a gray box /inset on web site or catalog, that gives the hood height. I think they measure it from the fender drip rail, (atleast thats the info I got over the phone).

are you sure the L88 was 4" over the stock smallblock?  that seems a bit of a tall order for that hood...or I could just be insane.
