HID Headlight Conversion

I would love to have it...but ''The Diva'' needs a few others things that are more important!! LIKE PAINT!!!!

I'm curious now,
With the high cost of HID and the low cost of the diamond cut housings that use the "glow" light halo bulbs why go for HID?
Coming at you on the highway you really can't tell one from the other I have seen both. Most HID kits only give you low beam.
I realize they do put out more light you will have to upgrade your whole wiring/charging system to use them the Halo conversion all to need to do is rewire with relays, which unless you are purist stock you should do anyway,
Is the car going to be used as a night racer?

Cost is relative in my case I already have HID low beams in my C5. The package for the C5 with Euro headlamps ran about $800. It was another $130 for a heavy duty wiring harness & about 2 weeks of angst trying to get it all installed.
The kit for the 74 is $500 + shipping & includes the HD wiring harness. I guess that I see it as a bargain compared to the cost of the kit for the C5.

As said above the kit includes the HD harness so that won't be a problem. Plus the car at this moment doesn't have the engine or tranny installed so there's plenty of room to work on installing the new harness.

No she isn't but I've found that on dark roads more illumination is always a good thing. Plus I have mod fever... If I put some extra money into her then I'll be less likely to put more money into the C5. As she stands right now I've had to replace the entire front end. All the u-joints, tie rods, ball joints etc were all bad. That was something that we weren't anticipating. Whenever you get an email from your mechanic that's titled " You'd better be sitting down" you know you're in trouble. Its also the primary reason why I haven't gone forward & bought the HID kit. I'm hoping that I can purchase it before summer.

Of course HID are brighter at that price they should dim out the sun,
but seriously it's everyones right to spend toad pelts as they please, I have seen the good halos and the HIDs together and the difference in price of about 500.00 isn't 500.00 difference in brightness....just my opinion.

Can you give me a link to these halos that you're talking about?

I don't have a link per say, but they sell everywhere from Ebay , JC Whitney to your local parts house,
some have a glow halo but look for the clear diamond cut with a color glow lamp.
I set up ones for my Mako that have a second smaller green bulb in the housing, at the biffy burger or car cruse, headlights off green lamps on the car looks like it has green eyes, ok cheesy but fun...

Well HID is set back till the Summer at least if at all. I just got out of the hospital with 2 kidney stones. I'm having lithotripsy done on 2/23 & that'll be a grand. I just had a roofer give us an estimate of roof repairs that have to be done ASAP... $500... Oh well... A dry house & my life take priority.
