Help! Will 1980 rocker panels fit my '79?

Vette(s): 1979 Red #72 C3 Corvette,T-350,Black interior,air,tilt/tele,K&N.And a 1978 Olds Cutlass 350/350,auto,air,2-dr.,buckets

They are the same color-black,& I guess to me they look like they'd fit...do they? I need to bid tomorrow,if so! |headscratch|

Jon, somebody over on Corvette Forum must be looking to bid on those same rocker panels. Doc Rebuild posted that the 80-82 rocker panels are about an inch or so shorter than the 79. Also the holes wouldn't line up.

You probly found my post over there. So far I've heard from 2 people who said they would fit,so now I'm not sure & should probly quit bidding?

Yeah, I knew that was you. Figured you didn't see it. Ask the seller to measure the length. 79's are 65 inches long. Or maybe someone here with a 80-82 can quick measure. Also, EVERY catalog has them listed seperately.

Yeah,I asked,no answer yet.I've looked at about 4 catalogs...looks identical,but no measurements |cussing|

Guess it was wishful thinkin'.They all sell for $300 |eek|

If I was to spend that much,I might be leaning towards fiberglass skirts that are offered,it would make the vette look lower.But I spose they wouldnt work if I then decided to go with Hooker sidepipes someday? |headscratch|

Vette(s): 1981 Blue Ice Met. w/pearl ghost flames TKO500 5speed. LS1 Swap 3.45 Dana 44.

I went out to the garage and measured the rocker panels on the '81. They are 64" long. The mounting screws are about a half inch in on each end. Mine aren't original. Don't know what year they are off of. I know 80-82's should be all black. Not silver w/black stripe on the top edge.

I was finally able to get someone after the long weekend at Corvette America,and was told they would NOT fit-after all they have them listed separately.After posting this question around I got a 50/50 split.I quit bidding,the auction is over.Too bad,the pair sold for less than $70,and they list new for $300.The pictures looked like new ones.Thanks,guys.

As you have figured out they will be slightly too short...

I have (somewhere_ a set I removed years ago from my 79 when I installed ground effects on it...I had removed the black paint long before I removed them however (just metal polish and a hell of a lot of elbow grease...)

shipping them would be a hassle to be sure BUT I had no idea they were selling for so much...ouch ! I would hammer out your old ones and repaint them before I would invest 300 bucks in a new pair... (ok I'm cheap)
