Has anybody ever replaced one of these? I have the part but don’t see any simple way of doing this.  Do you have to pull the dash out or is there an easier way?

If I have to pull the dash does anybody have any suggestions or tips for doing it with a minimum of grief?

I hope you can make like a contortionist.

Wiggle the duct tube off, then use a small mirror and a light and get a good look at where the 2 phillips head screws are on each side of the vent outlet. With a lot of patients and an uncomfortable position under the dash, remove the 2 screws and the vent outlet will come out. Upon reassembly put a little "dumdum" or sticky stuff on the end of the screwdriver to hold the screw on to get it started. I just did this on my '81 not to long ago.

Good luck!

Sarge -

I made like a contortionist and am still sore.  Solved the problem though - at least almost.  I got one of the two bolts holding the duct vent to the dash - the other one was hopeless.  I have a much younger and more flexible buddy and I am going to draft him for the chore.

Anyway - thanks for the tip .  It will be fixed soon.
