I've had the entire interior out of my 74 Coupe and have blasted, fiber glassed, insulated, recovered and re-assembled, but the heater controls got me frustrated. Is there a trick or order of reassemble of the center consoles that I'm missing? The vette has A/C. I've got the vacuum connector back on and gave up on the heat control cable and just drove it for the summer. Well, now its cold and I'm changing the heater core and radiator (seperate issue)and though maybe I should go back at trying to get the controls right. Any suggestions from someone thats been where I'm at?

there is an adjustment on the cable loosen that and then try put the cable on. If all else fails loosen the bolts for the box to give you more slack. Tehn tighten adn adjust acordingly.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the help. I finally got it back on over the weekend by removing the center console and standing on my head to reach it from the front. I ended up doing exactly as you said and removed where the cable was attached and slipped it on. Then reattached the cable. I worked on foreign cars in the 70's and though I was good at working in small spaces, but the Vette under dash puts a hole new twist to the term tight space. Of course now my blower fan decided not to work, I'll just add it to the list.
