I'm going to be rebuilding my headlights with the $83 kit from Bair's. I wondered if anyone has done this and what tips they have for me. Thanks. Kathy

What exactly are you doing? Replacing the seals in the actuators, or something else?

Take photos first. Do only one side at a time in case you need to compare. Have the AIM assembly book for drawings. Soak everything with PB blaster. Be careful removing the springs I used locking pliers but they may still slip. I sandblasted all the parts and painted them but that is up to you. Check all your vacuum lines looking for cracks or dry rot. Don't be surprised if the clevis won't come off the actuator rod.
Take your time, use a little xanax and then maybe a little more xanax and then just a tad to feel lucky. After all that then you can do the other side.

I have both headlight assemblies out of the car. It doesn't seem too bad except for that rod that goes thru the clevis with the plastic over it. That looks like it will be the worst. Speaking of PB blaster, I have never used it. Does it work better than WD 40?
I have already bought the vacuum hoses. The vacuum system was butchered and it's easier to start from scrap. I am also replacing both actuators, and the relays, as they were not repairable.

P.B.Blaster is a super penatrating solvent,WD40 is basically a Water Displacing lubricant ergo WD water displaing.I used WD40 for years and it was good.I heard all the raves about P.B. and I was at the local parts store,asked the guys about it,they said once you go P.B. you'll never go back to WD .they were right ,I swear by the stuff,"try it,you'll like it"

PB is much better than WD-40 as a penatrant, but it is put to shame by G.M. Hear Riser Lube. Only can be found at GM dealers. It is by far the best penatrant you will ever use.
