Headlights Flash or Flicker On and Off

I don't often drive my car at night, but the other day when I put on my high beams they would go out and then come back on. If I put on the low beams the lights would flicker. I replaced the headlight switch a few months ago as I couldn't pull the knob easily. I checked the wiring and ground and they seem okay. The lights don't look like they are higher wattage. Ant ideas where I could look? Thank you.

Vette(s): 1982 corvette crossfire production numer C5101985. Color is silver and claret. All original numbers match. slight mods to crossfire for better efficiancy and power balanced and added fuel pressure assembly between throttle bodies,
did they flicker before you changed the headlight switch?

did you check the ground at your dimmer switch?
I had an old chevy pick up that did the same thing, I am trying to remember what i did to correct the issue, I believe the pigtails for the lights were corroded and I replaced the wiring and connector to the lights.

Same question for me...were they doing that BEFORE you changed the headlight switch? If they were, then I would be looking at the dimmer switch itself....it's down on the floor, where it can get a LOT of nasty stuff in it, including water.
If they were NOT doing this before, then I would think the problem is the "new" headlight switch. There have been many posts about new switches not working properly right out of the box.

Look at the connections at the headlights!! Clean them good with a wire brush or sandpaper. My headlights did that but as soon as I cleaned the electrical connections the problem was solved!!

The lights weren't flickering before I changed the switch. It was just difficult to pull and push the knob, but I never drove the car much at night so maybe the problem existed before and I didn't know about it.
