Minor issue but nagging just the same - I rarely drive my '78 at night, but when the headlights are on low beam, the high beam indicator comes on and vice-versa. Anybody have any suggestions how to correct this?

Other than an issue with the dimmer switch itself, I would suspect the bulbs were plugged in incorrectly....plugs swapped.

Adding on to Joel's reply - check to see which headlight bulbs are lit up when in low beam mode - only the outside bulbs should be on. I don't know all the wiring in the headlight circuitry but guessing there's also a possibility that wires to the headlight dimmer switch are plugged in incorrectly.

Headlights light up correctly. I need to do some more digging. Thanks--

If I remember correctly (more than a day and the memory fades) my 75 did the same thing. The fix must not have been very painful otherwise I'd have remembered what I did to fix it.

Don't the headlight bulbs have different plug configurations? 3 prong vs 2 prong.
