Greetings all, I am fixing a headlight issue. Drivers side headlight assy will not come up all the way and is sunken down when retracted. You can pull it up, but it is binding I got under the car and found a missing bolt and I assume a bushing was there as well that connects the headlight vacuum mechanism with the Headlight frame where the lights bolt in. In the diagram below it is the very front bolt hole in front of the warning switch of the "Front Link" bracket. Does anyone know what thread size that might be. I looked on Ecklers but I can only find a more expensive $186.00 rebuild kit that may have that bolt, not sure. It has a self starting thread and a large bolt head.

It's not a bolt. It is a actuator pin, it holds all the parts together. The nut you see in the diagram, is what holds the switch in the bracket. The springs hold the pin in. A bushing is also in the same location.

That would make sense, but the pass side looks like a threaded bolt with a large diagonal head, I can see threads coming out of the boss it is attached to. I can't find a diagram with that particular connection. They're either the one I have posted here or the top half, but none where it shows them both fitting together

Yes, I believe there is a bolt with a staggered shank and plastic bushing that holds the bracket you show to the headlight lid itself.
I think I've got a few in my "extras" box. Let me go out in the garage and advise. I will post a picture if I can find one.

Sorry, I have just about every other spare headlight part other than that bolt and bushing. I believe what your looking for can be found at zip-corvette.com. Do a search for P/N's HDL-125 Front link pivot bolt and HDL-126 Front link pivot bolt bushing. They are $6.50 and $2.50 respectively, may be slightly higher because I'm looking at an older catalog.
Interesting, never seen one of these missing. Rusted and snapped off a few times but never just missing. With that bolt removed you should be able to raise the lid by hand without raising the rest of the mechanism. Hope that's what your looking for, Good Luck !!

I'm wid John on this one...that front/upper hole is for a shoulder bolt to hold the linkage to the actual headlight bucket. A bolt and bushing go there.

Thanks to all, I found it on Ecklers, kinda like a needle in a haystack. $8.00 for the bolt and $3.00 for the bushing. I wish I new the thread pitch tho. I have a small hardware store of fasteners and bushings.

Chances r good you would strike out at hardware store. The one thing about theses old cars is that bolts and those small necessities cant be found anymore except on corvette sites

I really wasn't referring to a hardware store like that. I meant my shop. I did order the bolt and bushing, but I use this car everyday and leave early in the am so I need lights. I found a guy on CL selling C3 parts and he had 2 light sets and agreed to let me come by and measure a few things. I found a bolt and old brass bushing that I cut to fit and I had the lights working that day. I ordered 2 bolts and bushings for each side. Those will go in when they come. I can't stand paying a lot of extra money for next day or 2 day shipping so this was the fix.. and I found some parts I could use at the nice CL guys place. What a great community the C3 and Corvette people..
