headlight door adjustment

Hello,
I would like to adjust one of my headlight doors so it fits flush with the body of my 82. The front edge of the door is slightly higher than I prefer. How do you adjust the headlight assembly? Is the adjustment done from under the car or the radiator area?

Tom,
It's pretty easy, for a contortionist. Nah, just kidding. If you can remove your front grilles, do so. You'll see the arm that comes out of the actuator, with a solid metal cap on the end. Inside this cap is a hole that a rod goes through sideways. All you have to do is remove this rod by removing the small cotter pin, and you're ready to do your adjustments.

Just twist this end cap either up or down on the threads of the actuator rod, right to bring the headlight door down, and left for the opposite.

I've heard several suggestions where you want to adjust the doors to where the front is just slightly below the body line. The reasoning is, this will eliminate the chance of the paint getting chipped from a road pebble. Good luck, man.

Just finished doing mine on my 77. Pull grill out,it gives you access to the bottom off the unit.The bolt which goes through the center link of the mechansm adjusts how flush the door is when down. Its the shaft that all four springs connect to. Will need a 9/16 wrench to adjust by turning. Use boxend on other end. Adjust it a little lower than front edge,helps cut down on rock chipping.
