Anyone ever remove the whole headlight assembly? What is the easiest way to do this?

Do you still have all of the impact stuff behind the front bumper? I didn't and was able to maneuver the out throught the headlight holes. (not without knicking them up a bit 
). I believe the correct way is with the front bumper off the car, they shoud drop down when unbolted and come forward.
