I am replacing the headliner fasteners on my 77.  Once you replace the fastners do they require some sort of glue to keep them locked together?  The original ones have glue on them like they were glued together, not sure if that was done by the previous owner or factory......??   Also the original fasteners on the liner are oval and the matching fastener on the T top is round.... Is this right or do I have parts from different years?

The original fasteners on the headliner were rivited on, the replacements (From Ecklers) did not come with any installation information.  Is glue or apoxy the best option??

I know lots of questions .....Want to get it right the first time !!

Thanks in advance guys!!!...........Mel

If I'm not mistaken,  '68 to '77 had 4 pair Oval with 4 piece mounting screws and '78 to '82 had 3 piece Round fasteners with 18 piece mounting screws for the headliners.

Not sure about the glue.

I ended up gluing the oval fasteners to the headliner.  The replacements had studs that pushed into the old holes the rivits left in the headliner, so glue or apoxy was my option...... Looks like it's going to work fine.  The mating fasteners on the T-Top were round and held in with a screw ( bought a pack of these too).  The drivers side had been glued together, probably kept falling down  and the previous owner glued them together.  I did not glue them together as the passenger side had no glue.  They seem to be holding fine...  Thanks for your reply.......Mel
