Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Finally got my new dash in my 1982. It has been a long time and I had the Center Gauge console apart for a while. While I thought I had everything marked I must not have.
Got every thing back together fired her up and oil pressure = 0, Charging voltage= 0, Temperature all the way over in the red.
Basically everything was where it should not have been. The system worked before I took it apart and replaced the lens because you could hardly see through it. I decided while I had it apart to remove rust and paint it. So I'm pretty sure it is me.
The circuit board is not in good shape so I will replace it.
And of course I did not take a digital picture of the back of the console before I took it apart. Question I have is does anyone have a digital picture of the back of the console so I can see if I have the ceramic jumpers correct.
I'm figuring that I have something shorted out and I driving the gages in different directions. Hope fully I did not damage any of them.

Did not see any specific wire that I would consider the ground. The Plug in the back will only go in one way and the same is for the second three prong connector.
I agree with your thought. I figure it is something common as every gauge was reading wrong. There were a lot of fiber washers that isolated the individual gauges from metal. I was sure I got all of these back where they belong. Except when I started it up and got the negative results.
Without some assemble or a photograph I'm not sure of my next step. We have a couple of Corvette junk yards ins San Diego area I was going to try to find one that had the complete assemble if I cannot get another way of having something to go on.

don't know much about 82's but whenI took my dash apart my center cluster and speedo tack assy had a spade connectors for ground wire, 82 could be different

Not much you can do but to make sure that the connector is firmly into the cluster bank. I had a problem with my ameter and temp gage but when I seated the connector firmley my problem went away. Good Luck

I think it is one of the shunts/resistor that go across the meters in the back is connected wrong but without a picture of what the back is suppose to look like or a drawing that shows the resister connections I'm at a dead end. Does anyone have a picture a book that has the electrical drawing showing the Shunt/resistors. I have the shop manual and the assembly manual and they do not seem to have the picture I need.

Thats one area Ive not had apart on mine. If anyone has a pic, Id love to see it as well just for future reference. I did find THIS in my archive of pics Ive snatched from the net but dont think it is really what you need. I looked for one with the circuit board removed....no luckCrossfire1982 2009-07-27 05:30:18

That helps it shows the shunt and how they are connected. I just got back in town tonight will check tomorrow I think I see one that I have messed up. That could do it. I will let you know. By the way when I get this fixed I will have a complete set of pictures of the disassembly and assembly. So anyone that has to replace the circuit board will have all they need. If you find other pictures please post. Thanks
