From what I found the only speaker that I was able to use without doing modifications was an original delco. I bought mine form Electro Tech Inc.. They have good sound but I am sure todays speakers are better but nothing fits. There are held into place with metal bracket and nothing fits correctly. I had a friend that put in new speakers to his 77 and it bulged the top of the dash panel. Looks very tacky! Thats why I decided on original replacements. They were just over 50 bucks for the pair. If you  need any other information on this let me know. Good luck

I haven't done it yet myself, but I understand that 5.25" speakers will fit in the kick panels. There seems to be enough room there - I would get the speakers locally so you could measure the depth before you buy. You'll then have to work up a way to mount them. Easiest overall approach would be to go with the factory type speakers in the factory location. You might try this link for some alternatives.

Todd since your from WA, I suggest you go to CarToys, they will hook you up with speakers that will fit right in there. Good Luck.
